Who is your favourite character out of your stories and why? My handwriting is so awful I can’t read it the next day so if it weren’t for the computer I’d never get anything done.

I scribble notes everywhere, all the time (I’ve had to get a dictation machine to stop me trying to scrawl things at traffic lights while driving).īut I then need to get these into my computer as soon as possible. Where and how the scenes fit together can go through quite a lot of rearranging as I go and of course as the characters get to work they have their own ideas and can start to take over so quite often their logic means the book ends up somewhere quite different from where I’d expected.ĭo you write using pen and paper or on a computer? I usually have an overall idea in mind and I tend to create the ‘key scenes’ first and then work through the linkages. When a story is flowing I can usually write something like 4-5000 words over a Saturday and Sunday. When I’m writing I just get into a habit where it takes up most weekends. I’ve been a biker all my life and while I’ve never been a member of or associated with any outlaw club, they’ve always been a presence in that world, people I’ve been aware of and spoken to occasionally, and a serious and committed life and culture that I’ve been interested in and followed.īut I was somewhat frustrated as it’s a culture that when it appeared at all in fiction, tended to be used as shorthand for a comedy villain, so I kept asking myself why doesn’t anyone write something set in this world that treats it, the life, and the demands and choices it had to require seriously?Īnd eventually I just decided if no one else was going to do it, I would.
